The moment I accepted my life was a beautiful, chaotic, sometimes a little-messy-but-always-entertaining circus was the moment I felt a true release.

There's no sense in fighting the madness, but I've picked up a few tricks to keep the show going along the way.

I hope they work as well for you as they have [and still do] for me.

Wind on the Island
By Pablo Neruda

The wind is a horse:
hear how he runs
through the sea, through the sky.

He wants to take me: listen
how he roves the world
to take me far away.

Hide me in your arms
just for this night,
while the rain breaks
against sea and earth
its innumerable mouth.

Listen how the wind
calls to me galloping
to take me far away.

With your brow on my brow,
with your mouth on my mouth,
our bodies tied
to the love that consumes us,
let the wind pass
and not take me away.

Let the wind rush
crowned with foam,
let it call to me and seek me
galloping in the shadow,
while I, sunk
beneath your big eyes,
just for this night
shall rest, my love.

“I love how you love love.”

The text 4 years in the making came through my phone just two weeks ago. “I love how you love love.” I had just finished talking about the proposal celebration I was at earlier when the text was sent to me in reply. The sender, a dear friend here in this city by the sea, had no clue she was calling me out on something I had yet to fully admit. Those closest to me had started to pick up on it over the past year or so, but no one dared brooch the subject. These were uncharted waters, and I’m not just talking about the idea of love itself but the vulnerability of openly admitting my newly-formed fascination with it as well. I have loved before and I do love now, but this statement hasn’t exactly always been true for me. Like I said, the text was a long time coming. But there it was. I saw it on my screen and I knew right away – the jig was up. My number was called. And there was no hiding from the fact anymore. Apparently I wasn’t doing such a stellar job of covering up this situation as well as I thought. I don’t know if I was more shocked at seeing the words on my screen or the ease at which I replied that the statement was true. (of course I added a shhh, don’t tell anyone) Funny how sometimes all it takes is a text message to unknowingly pull you out of hiding. I guess I owe my dear friend a glass or two of bubbly to say thank you. A girl can’t stay in hiding forever. And it was about time I came clean on this one.

Hi. I’m Jennie B, and I am in love with love.

Now that is a statement way beyond 4 years in the making…..and probably one that some of you are pretty shocked to see me admit. Read it again. I actually said it and if you need verification, you know how to get a hold of me.

*A note to family members reading this: Calm it down. This is not an indication that I’ll be walking down the isle in the near future. It does mean, however, that I have placed marriage back on the table and it is no longer completely ruled out as an option. But like I said, I’m not planning on taking that plunge anytime soon. Trust me. Baby steps. Don’t go putting the cart before the horse, kids. 😉

music snack – video games

Posted in LOVE, Music Snack

My roommate was the first person to introduce me to Lana Del Rey and her song Video Games. Not only is it a great video, but the song ….. well, the song just says it all.

Lana Del Rey – Video Games

Reminds me of a high school, nothing else matters in the world kind of love … wouldn’t you agree?

The Music Snack comes out every Wednesday to put a little rhythm in your week. Requests are always welcome, so don’t be shy!

In the wave-strike over unquiet stones

In the wave-strike over unquiet stones
the brightness bursts and bears the rose
and the ring of water contracts to a cluster
to one drop of azure brine that falls.
O magnolia radiance breaking in spume,
magnetic voyager whose death flowers
and returns, eternal, to being and nothingness:
shattered brine, dazzling leap of the ocean.
Merged, you and I, my love, seal the silence
while the sea destroys its continual forms,
collapses its turrets of wildness and whiteness,
because in the weft of those unseen garments
of headlong water, and perpetual sand,
we bear the sole, relentless tenderness.
